The Ristorante di Poggio Antico, awarded with Three Forks by the Michelin Guide, is an integral part of the estate of Poggio Antico, and is located on the premises, just 4.0 kilometers from the town of Montalcino.
It was created with a careful and tasteful renovation of some barns in one of the three family homesteads built over a century ago on the property. In 1990 it was upgraded and redecorated, so that visitors to the estate can combine their cellar tour with a culinary experience at a fine restaurant, thereby enhancing their enjoyment of our wines and their time at Poggio Antico.
It is right next door to the cellars of Poggio
Antico, and offers an innovative dining experience at an exceptional
quality-price ratio, in elegant surroundings, with a stunning view over
the estate Brunello vineyards across to Monte Amiata. Guests can look across the vines to the charming hamlet of Sant’Angelo in Colle
and, on extremely clear days, can glimpse the sparkle of the sea and the
profile of Montecristo island in the far distance.
In the summer it is possible to dine outside on a beautiful terrace, allowing guests to enjoy even more of the panoramic view.
Because no member of our family is a professional chef, an independent manager rents the restaurant, fully furnished with top class equipment. This effectively makes the chef an entrepreneur with all the incentives and authority to manage the restaurant well over the long term.
It is currently run by a young Chef, Sossio Perrotta (assisted in the kitchen by his younger brother Daniele) and his fiancé, Valentina (Restaurant Manager).
Sossio discovered and nurtured his passion for fine cuisine already in his early years. He has earned a culinary school degree and has worked in many prestigious hotel restaurants in Italy and Switzerland. In 2008 he was hired in the role of chef-de-partie at the “Veranda” restaurant within the world-renowned Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, on Lake Como.
They chose Tuscany, so here they are at the Ristorante di Poggio Antico today, where they propose a splendid revisiting of typical regional dishes, based on the availability of the highest quality fresh ingredients, personally selected by Sossio.
It is possible to order “A la Carte” or to choose from quite tempting tasting menus of 4, 5 and 8 courses.
